"The Core Knowledge Foundation sees the arts not as a peripheral part of the curriculum but as an essential part of the knowledge all children should learn..." The curriculum considers music as a way to build students' creativity which is one of the 4C's of 21st-century skills.
The MRMS Beginning String Orchestra would like to invite 6th grade students to join our program. We still have lots of room for 6th grade students....learning to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass. We also learn the basics of reading music-- no previous musical experience is required. If you are interested in learning a musical instrument, you must start now in the 6th grade. Beginning classes are not offered in 7th/8th grade. A musical ensemble is a great way to build friendships! We will also give performances and we sometimes take trips to places like Carowinds and Disney World.
